Minister for Sugar Industry Charan Jeath Singh has expressed his commitment for Fiji's transition towards ethanol production and has highlighted its promising prospects for farmers and the nation's economy.

He has highlighted this while attending the two day conference on Sugar and Ethanol in New Delhi, India.

The Ministry says Singh noted the importance of elevating sugarcane production to diversify into ethanol production in Fiji.

They say he also highlighted the pivotal role of ethanol in fostering a sustainable future, underscoring its potential to enhance farmer returns, reduce fuel imports, and mitigate environmental impact.

The Ministry says Singh also met the key industry leaders of India’s sugar industry and outlined a collaborative strategy to revitalise the sugar sector and restore its former eminence for Fiji’s sugar industry.

They say his discussions with industry leaders underscored the government's proactive stance in leveraging partnerships for the growth and development of the Sugar Industry in Fiji.
