The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s have started their HSBC Singapore 7s campaign on a high note after trouncing Ireland 26-12 in their first pool game this afternoon.

Fijiana took a slight 14-12 lead at halftime through converted tries from Mereula Torooti and Vika Nakacia while Kathy Baker scored a double for Ireland.

Silika Qalo and Verenaisi Ditavutu scored a further two tries for Fiji in the second half to help them secure the win.

Passing and communication are two areas that the Fijiana will need to work on before their next game tonight against France.

The players went for the offload game but the passes were not connecting.

Fijiana will play France at 9.33 tonight in their second pool game, and a win will guarantee them a place in the semi finals.

The women’s cup semi final starts at 5.45pm tomorrow with the cup final at 11.05pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s will face the USA at 9.06 tonight in their first pool match and then play New Zealand at 12.22 midnight tonight in their second match.

The Men’s cup semi finals will begin at 6.56pm tomorrow, and the cup final will kick off at 11.41pm tomorrow.
