Sigatoka man who allegedly murdered defacto partner remanded

The case of the 53-year-old Sigatoka farmer who allegedly murdered his defacto partner and struck his step-daughter with a cane knife on Wednesday has been transferred to the Lautoka High Court.

Anand Kumar appeared before Nadi Magistrate Peni Dalituicama.

Kumar is charged with one count of murder, two counts of breach of the domestic violence restraining order and one count of breach of bail conditions.

He allegedly struck the woman with a cane knife in their home in Sigatoka which resulted in her death.

Police say the 14-year-old girl remains admitted at the Lautoka Hospital and is now in stable condition.

Kumar has been remanded in custody and the case will be called on the 7th of next month for mention
