Logging companies are concerned over the shortage of supply of mahogany by Fiji Hardwood Company Limited.
Dayal Sawmillers and Sustainable Mahogany Industries Limited from Deuba who are the biggest customers of Mahogany from Fiji Hardwood have told Fijivillage News that they are suffering huge losses.
An official from Sustainable Mahogany Industries Limited said their mill was stopped last week as there were no logs to be processed.
They are in the dark as there is no straight answer from Fiji Hardwood.
Dayal group of companies' Director Jay Dayal said because of low supply of logs, they had to lay off about 100 employees two months ago who are still at home.
Dayal said they have written to Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum to intervene and deal with alleged hogging of mahogany logs by Fiji Hardwood who is the sole supplier of mahogany in the country.
Fiji Hardwood could not be reached for comments.
