The set-up of the Fiji Institute of Sports and the construction of a new building at the Valelevu Youth Centre are the two essential priorities of the Ministry for Youth and Sports this year.

Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru says they will focus on youth and sports development so that both go hand-in-hand.

Saukuru says they need another building at the Valelevu Youth Centre to increase the capacity for more people as it is a pathway to the military, police and navy.

The Minister says they can only assist people with the allocated budget and cannot serve the needs of all Fijians after many have asked them for playgrounds, gym equipment, fibreglass boats, machines for their farms and many others.

He says they are limited with their budget and are trying to assist as many people as possible, however they can not promise anything.

He says the ministry also has income-generating projects that allow youth clubs to explore options surrounding them through which they can learn and earn for their families.
