Serious concerns raised on people asking money at traffic lights
Serious concerns have been raised in relation to a group of people that have been seen asking money mostly at traffic lights in Samabula and other areas.

Fiji Pensioners Association president, Hari Raj Naicker said these people are taking the tin around, shaking it and pushing it in the car windows for people to give money.

Naicker said the permit does not allow this.

He is also questioning whether an organisation called Rewa Golden Oldies exists for which these people are collecting money for.

Meanwhile, the Land Transport Authority has made it clear that people just cannot come on the roads and ask money from the motorists or passengers as it is illegal.

LTA Spokesperson, Iliesa Sokia confirmed that they have not given permission to anyone to conduct this kind operation on the roads.

Police Spokesperson, Atunaisa Sokomuri said they are looking into the issue.
