A security officer and a businessman were arrested over the weekend after being allegedly found in possession of illicit drugs.

Police say the 30-year-old security officer was arrested in Toorak on Friday afternoon following a tip-off.

Upon searching, officers allegedly found methamphetamine and more than 60 rolls of marijuana.

Officers also searched his car with the assistance of the K9 unit and allegedly found two rolls of marijuana.

He has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of the illicit drugs and one count of giving false information and will be appearing in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

In another case, a 40-year-old businessman was arrested at a hotel in Martintar, Nadi on Saturday.

Police say the man was allegedly found with white substances believed to be methamphetamine and dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

The drug was sent for analysis as investigations continue.
