Schools will not close even if there is a positive case - Kumar
Minister for Education Premila Kumar.

Schools will not be shut down even if there is a positive case of COVID-19 in a classroom.

While speaking at Baulevu High School, Minister for Education Premila Kumar says if there is a positive case reported in a school, it does not mean the school will be shut down for 14 or 28 days.

She says according to their discussion with the Ministry of Health, they will be isolating a student or a teacher if they are found to be positive.

She says they will then decontaminate the classrooms and classes will resume as normal because the idea is that we have to live with COVID-19.

Kumar says this is something that we should be getting used to and there should not be any panic.

She has also urged parents to teach COVID safe behaviour to their children and adds a lot of training and teaching will also be conducted regarding this in schools.
