Schools can now take students from outside their zones if they have space
Minister for Education Doctor Mahendra Reddy

Minister for Education Doctor Mahendra Reddy says all schools that have spaces available can take in students who expressed their interest to enroll there but were out of the zone.

Doctor Reddy says the parents who are outside of the zones but had expressed their interest in the schools, can contact the schools from today.

However their intake will only depend on the spaces available.

The Education Minister says the out of zone enrolment must be strictly carried out under first come first serve basis.

Doctor Reddy says schools have also been advised to ensure that this exercise is fairly carried out without any special treatment or bias for anyone.

The Ministry had advised schools last week to confirm the spaces for all students within the school zone by last Friday.

The remaining spaces will now be available for students outside the zone.

Meanwhile Doctor Reddy says the school zoning system is necessary as many people are trying to bring students from the rural to urban areas.

He says they are focusing on improving the infrastructure in all schools.

Doctor Reddy says these reforms are necessary.
