The Northern division will miss out on a great tourism opportunity as Savusavu has now been excluded as a port of call for the major cruise liners which will visit our shores this year.
At this stage, an estimated 55 major cruise liners are expected to visit Fiji and Tourism Fiji Chairman Patrick Wong confirmed that the cruise line operators have decided that it is not viable to visit Savusavu.
The thousands of tourists who are expected to grace our shores on the cruise liners are also not expected to spend a lot despite the number of incentives in place for tourists.
Cruise Committee member Pacific Agencies Bradley Bower said this is due to the 10 to 12 day schedule of the cruises.
