Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji is concerned about the frequent acts of vandalism at the Vatuwaqa Cemetery with the latest incident occurring last night.

National Vice President Ramesh Sharma says it is concerning because they spend a lot of money to maintain the place but it gets broken into and violated frequently.

Ramesh says liquor bottles are scattered in the area where bodies are burnt among other things which are not supposed to be there.

He says according to the caretaker, these things normally happen during curfew hours.

Sharma says they have reported the matter to police on a number of occasions but nothing has been done so far.

We have sent questions to police regarding the concerns raised by Sharma and what can be done to address this issue. They are yet to respond.
