SODELPA motion to remove Free Milk Programme defeated in parliament
SODELPA parliamentarian Semesa Karavaki

SODELPA parliamentarian Semesa Karavaki today moved a motion during the 2016 2017 National Budget committee stage in parliament to remove the $3.57 million for the Free Milk Programme for Year 1 students.

Karavaki says there is a lot of scientific research which shows that animal milk is not good for children and adults.

Karavaki says the money should be used to give students fruit juice, fruit and vegetables.

SODELPA’s Salote Radrodro supported the motion, saying that the $3.57 million can be used for other projects in the Education Ministry.

The opposition’s motion to remove the Free Milk Programme was defeated.
