The Social Democratic and Liberal Party has announced the first batch of proposed candidates today for the September General Elections.

The 44 proposed candidates announced today include some former government ministers from the Qarase government.

These include party leader and former Education Minister Ro Teimumu Kepa, former Minister for Lands Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, former Local Government Minister in the Bainimarama led government Samuela Saumatua, former Native Lands Commission Chairman Ratu Viliame Tagivetaua, a Lands valuer Josefa Dulakiverata, former Minister for Fijian Affairs Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, former Education Officer Mikaele Leawere, a company executive Kiniviliame Kiliraki, a former member of Parliament Nanise Nagusuca, former Fiji Ambassador to USA Luke Ratuvuki, Ratu Viliame Niumataiwalu, former CEO for PSC Anare Jale, Chairman for Fiji Public Service Credit Union Anare Vadei,  former Kadavu Shipping Holdings Manager Ratu Sela Nanovo, former Senator Ratu Isoa Tikoca, former Fiji Visitors Bureau Executive Viliame Gavoka, former career civil servant Sitiveni Loco, lawyer Niko Nawaikula, former civil servant Jeremaia Namuaira, Ratu Osea Bolawaqatabu, Simione Drole, former school teacher Iosefo Nainima, former Minister of Finance Ratu Jone Kubuabola, former academic and politician Dr Tupeni Baba, former parliamentarian and current party general secretary Pio Tabaiwalu, businesswoman Dr Mere Samisoni, former Minister Losena Salabula, former ATH CEO Tomasi Vakatora, former Director for Women Salote Radrodro, Penina Ravulo, former Lands Minister Mitieli Bulanauca, Sodelpa’s Youth Council Secretary Laisani Qaqanilawa, former senior education officer Parayame Cakacaka, former Supervisor of Elections Semesa Karavaki, travel consultant Simione Rasova, SODELPA West Council’s president Ratu Jone Bouwalu, a pilot Marika Lewaqai, a former board chairman Ratu Nemia Vainitoba, former Flying Fijians player Viliame Satala, former opposition leader Mick Beddoes, an accountant Abdul Saheem Cavalevu, a career civil servant Sushil Shudhakar, former PDP spokesperson Nirmal Singh and former SDL Minister George Shiu Raj.

Party leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa said some names are under the reserved list and the selection committee is looking into it.
