The Suva City Council is working to clear blockages from drains and culverts causing flash flooding around Suva City after the continuous heavy rain.
The council says most of these drains and culverts contain a litter trap which has to be cleared manually to allow the flow of water and to prevent rubbish from causing these blockages.
Fijivillage raised the issue after blocked drains were seen causing flash flooding in some areas around Suva.
The council says that majority of the blockages within the greater Suva area have been cleared, and they are monitoring all the litter traps within Suva.
SCC urges the public to notify them if any areas within Suva still has blocked drains and has not been attended to.
