Ruling On Qarase/SDL Application Next Week
High Court Judge Justice Filimoni Jitoko will make a ruling next week on the application made by Laisenia Qarase and the SDL Party to stop the work of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji (NCBBF).

Solicitor General Christopher Pryde argued in court today that Qarase and the SDL have filed in insufficient evidence after claiming that the People's Charter will replace the Constitution.

Pryde said the Constitution of Fiji is still the Supreme law of this country.

SDL lawyer Niko Nawaikula said promulgating any law, decree order, agreement or doing or recommending anything what so ever to alter, amend or abrogate the Constitution including changes to the electoral system are contrary with the current provision of the Constitution.

However, Justice Jitoko questioned Nawaikula to point out in the affidavit where they see the intention of the interim government to amend the Constitution.

The ruling will be made next week.
