Rewa books first semi-final spot in BOG after 3-0 win over Nadi

Rewa has become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the Extra Battle of the Giants after a convincing 3-0 victory over Nadi at Subrail Park.

Setareki Hughes opened the scoring in the first half, giving Rewa a 1-0 lead going into the break.

The Delta Tigers maintained their dominance in the second spell, with John Orobulu doubling their lead before Iowane Matanisiga sealed the win with the third goal.

Stepping in for coach Marika Rodu, who is in Samoa with the Young Kulas for the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, Tevita Waranivalu says they have been staying calm under pressure, and this has helped them.

He says he has big shoes to fill, but they are working together as a team.

Rewa beat Navua 1-0 yesterday and will now face Suva tomorrow in their final group match.

Meanwhile, the match between Ba and defending champions Lautoka is currently underway.

Host Labasa will take on Nadroga at 5pm.
