A senior official of the Social Democratic Liberal Party is calling on the government to make the full Auditor General’s reports public from 2006 to date.
Member of SODELPA’s National Management Board Doctor Tupeni Baba said the Auditor General audits how taxpayers funds allocated to the different ministries are used.
He said this should be revealed to the people.
We have sent questions to Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and he is yet to respond.
Meanwhile, Doctor Baba said they are now waiting for the new Code of Conduct Decree to come into effect which would result in all the government ministers revealing their assets, salaries and liabilities.
Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has already told Fijivillage that the Code of Conduct for public office holders will soon require them to reveal their assets, liabilities and income.
He said this would see all the public office holders complying with the requirement.
He said as stated in the Political Parties Decree, the party officials and applicants have to do the same.
