Some residents of Savusavu have raised concerns regarding the increase in town rates targeted to special rates, garbage rates and general rates.

These concerns were raised to the officials of the Ministry of Finance during the National Development Plan consultation that was held in Savusavu.

They say the rates have been increasing every year, and they find it difficult to pay for it.

Residents also say the special rates are to be charged if there's any special project done by the council, which the ratepayers are responsible for, however, there is no special project going on right now, and yet they are told to pay special rates.

People also raised concerns regarding the road conditions, drainage infrastructure and developments.
