Request made to EU for no quarantine for European travellers returning from Fiji

Request made to EU for no quarantine for European travellers returning from Fiji
EU Ambassador to the Pacific Sujiro Seam and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Fiji has requested the European Union to exempt European travellers returning from Fiji from self-isolating or quarantining upon their return to the EU.

The United Kingdom has already allowed this.

Speaking about the Fiji-EU Political Dialogue, Sayed-Khaiyum says this will make Fiji a lot more attractive for a European who wants to come to holiday in Fiji because upon their return they do not have to go into quarantine again.

Sayed-Khaiyum says they understand the EU will be considering this.

He says they made the request because Fiji is COVID-19 contained.

European Union Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific Sujiro Seam says they support the overarching goal of Fiji to revitalise its tourism industry.

He says he is sure Europeans will be attracted by Fiji which is a wonderful destination.
