Minister for Agriculture, Dr Mahendra Reddy is advising farmers to utilise the assistance provided to them promptly and not waste the materials.
While handing over fencing material assistance packages to farmers in the Western Division, Dr Reddy has advised farmers to utilise the assistance within 3-months as an indication of their commitment.
He says this will also ensure that public investment is utilised effectively for the sector’s development.
Dr Reddy says they have provided materials based on the farmer’s needs and they will confiscate the materials and give it to those who need it more if farmers do not use it within 3-months. Meanwhile, Iveri Tamani of Mataso Village in Nakorotubo, Ra says the assistance will provide him with the needed boost to increase his livestock.
Tamani says he is grateful to the government because it has come at a time when he was in desperate need of assistance.
Similar assistance packages have been distributed to some farmers in Sigatoka, Nadi, and Lautoka.
