Re-trial ordered in the case of man facing a charge of buying minors under the age of 18 years for immoral purposes
Simione Tugi

The Suva High Court has quashed the conviction and set aside the sentence of a man who had pleaded guilty to a count of buying minors under the age of 18 years for immoral purposes.

Simione Tugi was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment.

Justice Thushara Rajasinghe has also ordered a re-trial in the matter.

Justice Rajasinghe says the summary of facts does not support the charge sheet.

Tugi has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
