Penioni Ravunawa who has a medical background, will be the Assistant Health Minister.

Minister for Health, Dr Atonio Lalabalavu says Ravunawa will help with monitoring, evaluation, and follow ups.

Dr Lalabalavu confirmed this when queried about his ministry getting an Assistant Minister and how it will help in dealing with the affairs of the ministry.

The Minister says he only learnt about the news on his flight over to Labasa, that some members of the Opposition Group of 9 were being sworn in as Ministers and Assistant Ministers.

The members of the Group of 9 who have been sworn in already include Former Police Commissioner and former senior military officer, Ioane Naivalurua who has been sworn in as the Minister for Policing, former Army Commander and former Director of Immigration, Viliame Naupoto as the Minister for Immigration, former FijiFirst and former SODELPA MP, Mosese Bulitavu as the Minister for Environment and Climate Change, former FijiFirst MP and former Land Transport Authority CEO Naisa Tuinaceva as the Assistant Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport, former journalist Aliki Bia has been sworn in as the Assistant Minister for Information while Josaia Niudamu has been sworn in as the Assistant Minister for Justice.
