It is very important for the iTaukei to know their identity, roots, culture, and traditions.
The Deputy CEO of the iTaukei Affairs Board, Josefa Toganivalu highlighted this while speaking to fijivillage News about the life of Ratu Sir Josefa Vanayaliyali Sukuna and how his legacy can relate to the present-day iTaukei in preserving and demonstrating their culture and traditions.
Toganivalu says knowing our identity well can help us grow, especially in education and other aspects of life.
He also says tradition should be taught at home.
He adds that the elders in the village, along with parents and guardians, should teach the youth about traditions and culture.
The Ratu Sukuna Day celebration will be held at Subrail Park in Labasa next Friday.
