The paramount chief of Kubuna, the Vunivalu Tui Kaba Ratu Epenisa Cakobau has requested Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka that the first meeting of the Great Council of Chiefs to be held on Bau Island.

While speaking after being installed as the Vunivalu Tui Kaba, Ratu Epenisa says 16 years have passed since the last GCC meeting was held in Bau.

He says one good thing about holding the first session on Bau Island is that every district and clan around Fiji have a representative on Bau Island.

The Vunivalu also acknowledged the support of the people that enabled the success of this event.

Meanwhile, President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere while opening the new parliament session last month confirmed that the first GCC meeting will be held in May.
