As thousands of Hindu siblings in Fiji have started to celebrate Raksha Bandhan, an occasion dedicated to all brothers and sisters, to mark the special between them the Shree Sanatan Dharm Purohit Brahman Sabha along with Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratindhi Sabha say the last day for Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated next Monday.

They say there will be an inauspicious timing for the celebration (bhadra) on Monday from 8.30am to 8 pm while the good time to celebrate the occasion will be on Tuesday from 8pm to 8.26 pm.

During Raksha Bandhan, the sister ties a sacred thread (rakhi) around her brother's wrist, prays for her brother’s long and healthy life and in return the brother vows to protect her always.
