The Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission Director Ashwin Raj says they are trying to get in touch with the person who posted on Facebook that a man was allegedly assaulted by police officers during curfew hours.

Raj says the Commission takes all allegations of torture and brutality seriously, more so when children are involved and will certainly pursue this matter in accordance with the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission Act.

He is encouraging the family to contact the Commission on 9709894.

Police have also confirmed that they are carrying out a preliminary investigation.

The Facebook post claims that officers allegedly picked up the man for breaching curfew and assaulted him in the process.
