This year’s Melbourne Cup is looking like a wet one with the forecast looking grim.

Melbourne has been experiencing winter-like conditions and Tuesday is set to be no exception for the 100,000 punters heading to Flemington.

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a 90 percent chance of eight to 15 millimetres of rain for the Melbourne area.

That comes with the chance of a thunderstorm, and even the possibility of hail in the afternoon.

The temperature is expected to be a chilly 14 degrees.
