Joshua Rahman

Joshua Rahman who was sentenced to 23 years imprisonment for being in possession of 39.5 kg of cocaine in 2019 has given his consent to the Suva Magistrates Court for him to be extradited to New Zealand.

He told the court that he consents to being extradited to face similar charges in New Zealand.

Rahman says his instructions to lawyers were that he was willing to voluntarily surrender himself for extradition on the condition that if convicted in NZ, his sentence will be reduced based on the time he has served in Fiji.

Suva Magistrate Waleen George will deliver her ruling on the 13th of next month.

Following the ruling, the High Court will decide whether Rahman will be extradited or not.
