Many people have been discussing the distribution of the 8,700 scholarships for 2025, with the majority of recipients reportedly being of iTaukei ethnicity.

With the breakdown from the TSLS, i-Taukei students received 6,181 scholarships with the equivalent of 71.05 percent, Fijians of Indian Descent students received 2,278 scholarships with the equivalent of 26.18 percent, Rotumans received 74 scholarships with 1.9 percent, Chinese got 2 scholarships while, for the Others, they received 165 scholarships.

Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro confirms that he will seek clarification from the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service regarding the detailed breakdown and will provide further explanation.

Radrodro says it is unfair to comment on such a matter because the allocation will only be given to those who applied.

He also highlighted that many of the scholarships cover short courses, including technical and vocational programs.

He adds the scholarships include both academic and TVET programs.

Radrodro also highlighted that the scholarship information originates from TSLS.
