The review of the Radiation Health Act 2009 will provide insights on amendments reflecting recent advancements in radiation.

This has been highlighted by the Ministry of Health's Acting Chief Medical Advisor, Doctor Luisa Cikamatana during the launching of the Public Consultation for Radiation Health Act at Suvavou House today.

Dr. Cikamatana says the application of radiation has gone beyond traditional healthcare applications, promoting a reassessment of the radiation health board’s role as currently defined within the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

She says that enacted in 2009, the Radiation Health Act superseded the Ionising Radiation Act (CAP 102) from 1969, establishing a regulatory framework for Radiation.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health will also be looking at the reviewing of the 11 acts in the Ministry.
