Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to deepening its partnership with New Zealand, emphasising the importance of shared development goals and mutual prosperity.

Rabuka and New Zealand’s Minister for Defence Judith Collins engaged in discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the two nations on the margins of the 61st session of the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

The Prime Minister is the only Pacific leader to be invited for the conference.

Rabuka and Collins also talked about the idea of encouraging able-bodied Fijians to travel to New Zealand for employment opportunities, allowing them to work, earn, and send remittances back home to support their families and contribute to Fiji’s economy.

They also touched on the strong defense and security cooperation between Fiji and New Zealand, an important sector which continues to play a vital role in regional stability.

Rabuka and Collins have agreed to maintain open dialogue and cooperation for the benefit of both nations and the wider Pacific region. Collins is also the Attorney-General, and Minister for Digitising Government, Minister for the Public Service, Minister responsible for the GCSB and NZSIS, and Minister for Space.
