RFMF personnel assist in evacuation efforts and woman delivers twins at the Sukanaivalu Barracks

Members of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces assisted a number of families in evacuation efforts in Vanua Levu and a woman also delivered her twin daughters at the Sukanaivalu Barracks as road access to Labasa Hospital was cut off.

Commanding Officer Engineers, Lt Colonel Semi Mocelutu says a family was evacuated from Natokama in Labasa to Sukanaivalu Barracks by RFMF Engineers and 3FIR Golf Company yesterday.

A baby was also transported inside a cooking pot and transfered into a baby tub.

Meanwhile the mother and the new born twins are now recovering at Labasa Hospital.
