Questions raised on delay in offloading of containers carrying potatoes and onions

Questions are being raised on the delay in the offloading of produce such as potatoes and onions at the port in Suva that could lead to a shortage of the produce in the country and also affect their quality.

Some businesses are concerned that the delay has been upto 3 weeks and are questioning what are the shipping companies and Fiji Ports doing to fix this problem.

They say the produce comes from Auckland, New Zealand and could take up 4 weeks to arrive.

Questions have been sent to Fiji Ports Terminal Limited and the shipping company involved.

Fiji Ports is expected to respond tomorrow.
