Police are calling on Fijians to take responsibility for their actions and while they understand that there is an atmosphere of celebrations, it should not however result in the total disregard of COVID-19 safe measures.

This follows TikTok videos emerging of people celebrating with some of the Olympic gold medal winning 7s heroes today as they were returning home.

Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho says the officers seen in the videos who failed to take action will be dealt with for neglect of duties.

Qiliho says they reiterate the call for people to act responsibly and be mindful that we are still in the middle of battling the virus which continues to be widespread in our communities both in the Central and particularly in the Western Division as stated by the Ministry of Health.
