Qera believes scrum battle to decide Flying Fijians clash against Wallabies

Qera believes scrum battle to decide Flying Fijians clash against Wallabies

With just hours remaining before the Vodafone Flying Fijians international clash against the Wallabies, captain Akapusi Qera maintains that it will come down to the first scrum that will test their strength.

The Flying Fijians have not beaten Australia in 63 years, but Qera says they will be looking to cause a June upset.

Vodafone Flying Fijians coach John McKee says the team will focus on their defence to shut their opponents down and not give them any opportunities.

Australia and Fiji have met on 20 occasions, with the Wallabies winning 17 times, Fiji twice and one game ended in a draw.

Meanwhile, the Wallabies have the realization that no one is talking about the possibility of them losing and it may not be likely but it is not unthinkable.

Fiji pushed the Wallabies hard at the World Cup in 2015, where their set‑piece progress was evident.

Looking at the Wallabies forwards, captain Michael Hooper is the only survivor from the last Wallabies forward pack that played Fiji at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

The Wallabies will take on the Flying Fijians at 5pm today in Melbourne.
