QVS beats Marist by 9 wickets to win Southern Zone Cricket final

Queen Victoria School has beaten defending champions, Marist Brothers High School by 9 wickets to win the Southern Zone Fiji Secondary School Under 19 Cricket final.

They were chasing 155 runs.

QVS made 156 runs in 19 overs and lost only 1 wicket.

Opening batsman Sefanaia Matai made 52 runs and was not out while Micheal Raphael made 80 runs.

Marist reps Jaz Ray and Cecil Browne represented the U19 national team in the International Cricket Council U19 Men's East Asia Pacific Cricket World Cup Qualifier last month.

Meanwhile, Western zone enters its final round of competition this Saturday at the Denarau Oval, Nadi.

Competition this year has 5 teams playing in a single round robin competition with the winner to be decided this Saturday.

Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College is currently undefeated after 3 rounds and leads the table with 9 points followed closely by Nadi Muslim College and Shri Vivekananda College with 7 points each.
