Public Health Amendment Bill seeking for foreigners coming to Fiji to pay for their quarantine costs
Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Parliament will debate and vote on the Public Health Amendment Bill this Thursday which is seeking for foreigners coming to Fiji to pay for their quarantine costs.

While speaking on his motion, Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this amendment will allow the Minister for Health through his Permanent Secretary to charge people coming to Fiji privately or foreigners who come to Fiji to stay here or for holiday purposes.

He says this is to allow for regulations to ensure these people pay their quarantine fees.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the government currently has to pay expenses related to quarantine costs for every single person who enters Fiji.
