Public Accounts Committee meeting postponed as some members raise procedural issues

The first Public Accounts Committee meeting scheduled for 10am today has been postponed to another day due to some procedural issues raised by some members.

Fijivillage was at the committee meeting venue when the Secretary General to Parliament Viniana Namosimalua first came and told the media and some members of the public that the meeting will start shortly.

After about 20 minutes, she returned to the meeting room and said that some matters have been raised which will be released in a statement later today.

Namosimalua also said that the meeting cannot go ahead this morning.

She said the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Doctor Jiko Luveni will decide on some of the issues raised.

One of the main items of the agenda was the election of the Public Accounts Committee Chairperson.

Opposition representative, Biman Prasad said he will comment after the Secretary General to Parliament releases the statement.

Government Whip Semi Koroilavesau who is also part of the committee will also await the statement from the Secretary General.

We are now awaiting the Secretary General’s statement.
