Major changes will take place from January next year as provisional licence holders will not be able to drive alone in the first year.

It has also been revealed that provisional license holders will not be able to drive throughout the day in their first year.

This is the confirmation from the CEO of Land Transport Authority Naisa Tuinaceva who says provisional license holders will need to have somebody in their vehicle who has full drivers license.

He says provisional license holders may have to get their learners permit again if they breach the regulations for provisional license in their first year.

This will depend on the seriousness of the breach.

Tuinaceva says they are not making life harder for people but are creating a platform where new drivers can learn and become skillful and professional on our roads.

He says a big number of provisional license holders are involved in accidents and are also booked.

The CEO of LTA adds that there is also a big problem with the attitude of drivers which they want to improve with this exercise.
