It will be a proud moment for Cpl Iowane Veramu as he never imagined that he would be marching in the coronation of King Charles in London today as a member of the Household Cavalry.

Cpl Veramu is part of the armoured section that will be participating in this grand event, and for him this will be a momentous occasion that fills him with pride and gratitude for the opportunity to represent his country.

Veramu says he never imagined that he would have the opportunity to serve in the UK military, let alone participate in such a grand event as the King's coronation.

He says after leaving Fiji, the road to joining the Household Cavalry has been long and challenging.

Originally from Vakativa village in the province of Cakaudrove, Veramu says his family, especially his wife and kids, have been a constant source of support, encouraging him every step of the way.

He says he is also proud to follow in his father's footsteps, who was once a member of the Fiji Army.

The coronation of King Charles III and the Queen Consort will be held at Westminster Abbey.
