The Land Transport Authority says the proposed taxi booking app, Vodo does not take 20% of earnings from drivers.

LTA met with the Fiji Taxi Association to clarify the misconception about the proposed app.

They say the app aims to make travelling in taxis easier, safer and more comfortable for both drivers and passengers.

LTA says if a taxi driver earns $150 a day in taxi fares, that is what they will receive in revenue.

They say the proposed app is still at stage 1 of a procurement process and there will be consultations with all stakeholders, including taxi owners/drivers and customers, who will soon come to know how fantastic and safe the Vodo app will be.

LTA is strongly urging media outlets to report this matter responsibly, factually and with a modicum of social responsibility.

The Fiji Taxi Association is expected to comment later today.
