Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has stated that he did not run away from Fiji after National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad claimed Sayed-Khaiyum left Fiji in 1987.

Professor Prasad highlighted this while speaking on the Investment Fiji Bill 2022 where he also said the government is getting desperate and the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama is spewing all the racist filth about 1987 and what the Indo-Fijians went through.

Sayed-Khaiyum then raised a point of order stating he was in Fiji in 1987 where he was arrested at Sukuna Park.

The Attorney General says he was only away for studies.
