The widow of late Professor Brij Lal has arrived in Labasa with his ashes to be interred at the Tabia River.

Doctor Padma Lal was greeted by their family at the Labasa Airport this afternoon.

She arrived into the country on Wednesday after 13 years as she and her husband were deported from Fiji in 2009.

Dr. Padma Lal says it was Professor Lal’s wish to be taken to his birth place in Tabia, Labasa.

Professor Lal passed away on 25th of December, 2021.

It was one of the first executive directives by the Coalition Government to allow Dr. Padma Lal back into the country.

A formal event at Tabia Sanatan College is being organized at midday tomorrow with the assistance of the National Federation Party and the Tabia Family followed by a private interment.

Dr. Padma Lal says friends and the general public are invited to the formal event.

The Lal Family and the Government, represented by the Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad, will share their reflections on the occasion, followed by a private interment.
