President sworn in as Chief Scout

The President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere was sworn in today as the Chief Scout and has urged young Fijians to join the Scout Movement in their schools and communities.

Ratu Wiliame says the main objective of the Scout Movement is to develop good citizenship among young people by training them to become self-reliant, patriotic and assist in the promotion and improvement of their physical, mental and spiritual development.

He says the movement is also an association that helps promote discipline, confidence and teamwork for its members in becoming mature and responsible citizens of our beloved Fiji.

The President has also called on the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to promote and support the Scouts Movement within our communities.

National Executive Commissioner for Scouts Fiji Joji Qaranivalu says today was a memorable day for all the 10,000 scouts in the country.
