Poultry companies invest in imports substitution
The decision by Government to remove price control in the local chicken prices will see the two Poultry Companies namely Crest Chicken and Rooster Chicken invest on millions of dollars in the imports substitution.

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum revealed at a press conference yesterday that they have decided to remove price control on chicken products after consultations with the two poultry companies in the country.

He said the full price increase will come into force in the next nine months.

However he said the increase will not affect people who receive the Food Voucher programme.

Sayed-Khaiyum said the two suppliers will also invest on chicken farms come June next year.
