The Nadi Weather Office said there is a possibility of a tropical depression forming over the North West of the country in the next 48 hours.
Acting Director, Alipate Waqaicelua said there is a high pressure to the south of the country and also a active trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain to the North of the country which is bringing strong south eastly winds and rain.
A strong wind warning is now in place for the whole country.
Meanwhile, the DISMAC office has also issued a public advisory specifically to Mariners.
Acting Director, Pajiliai Dobui said fisherman and small boat users are advised to take heed of the strong wind warning and avoid travelling on rough seas that can cause loss of lives.
