Pope Leo XIV vows to work for unity in the church at inaugural mass

Pope Leo XIV has vowed to work for unity and condemned the exploitation of the poor.

The ABC News reports that he was installed in a formal ceremony during which he also vowed to work for unity, so that the Catholic Church becomes a sign of peace in the world.

He opened his pontificate by taking his first Pope-mobile ride through St Peter's Square.

The inaugural mass marked the start of the pontificate of the first American to lead the Roman Catholic Church.

Pope Leo offered this message of communion during an inaugural mass in St Peter's Square before an estimated 150,000 pilgrims and world leaders.
