Child discipline is an ongoing issue that teachers and parents continue to face in school and teachers are concerned that parents' interference in their profession is increasing which has caused teachers to leave the school and find another school.

The Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary Selina Kuruleca says that in terms of child discipline in schools there are procedures in place to deal with the nature of offence of the child and they are dealt with accordingly.

Concerned parents from a school in Suva reached out to fijivillage News and said their school is battling with issues of drugs, glue sniffing, and smoking of cigarettes, and now certain students are using the rubber from the pencils and rubbing it on the wall, till it is hot and burning other students with it.

They strongly request all parents to continue to talk to their kids at home and remind them of the importance of discipline, manners, and respect.

We have sought questions from the school head teacher and he has yet to reply.
