Police to monitor activities of a bar and hotel after a free for all brawl

Police will now monitor the activities of a bar and hotel at Waimanu Road following a free for all brawl involving about 40 people yesterday morning.

Police officers at the scene had great difficulty in controlling the large number of people involved in the brawl.

The people involved had come out of the drinking spot.

Several people who were on their way to work had to take alternative routes as they got worried that they may also be attacked by the drunkards.

Fijivillage has raised the issue relating to such incidents occurring outside this particular drinking spot on many occasions.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said the Acting Chief Operations Officer has directed the officers to beef up patrols in the area.

Concerns have also been raised that the bar is open 24 hours and people finishing off from other nightspots end up at the bar to continue drinking.

Certain claims have also been made about the usage of the hotel rooms.

Police say they are now checking the license conditions of the hotel and bar.
