Police to continue monitoring elections and post elections as we also have a history of people not agreeing with election results like the events of 1987 and 2000 – Qiliho
Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho.

Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho says the members of the Police Force are in full elections preparation mode, and this will continue during the elections, and post elections as we have a history of people not agreeing with the election results like the events of 1987 and 2000.

Qiliho also says members of the Force will be voting earlier in the upcoming election during the pre-polling period to ensure they are free and ready to provide security during the elections period.

Qiliho says all the police posts and police stations will be utilised as polling hubs as well.

He says they are working on renovating them and getting them up to the standard of the elections.

The Commissioner also says the security landscape should not be used as a political football.

He says they continue to work through community policing to address the spike in cases in some areas.

Qiliho also says criminal elements are on the move after the curfew was lifted, and the Force has to be ready for this.
